Approach

Each evaluation starts from the child’s clinical history and records. Tests are chosen according to the clinical question, and the care plan is discussed with the family.

Clinical history

The family’s account, including prior records, videos and other important details, guides the next steps.

Targeted tests

Specific tests, including EEG, MRI, genetic tests and others, are tailored to the individual needs of each child.

The whole child

Seizures, headache and complex second opinions are evaluated taking into account the child’s overall health and daily life.

  • Rare genetic epilepsies

Common questions

Can you give a second opinion?

Yes. Bring all previous reports and images; a second opinion is most useful when the original data can be reviewed.

We live outside Tuscany or abroad. Can we be seen?

Yes — families from other regions and from abroad can book a private visit. Dr. Bartolini regularly gives second opinions to families from other countries, including many US expats.

Can the visit be in English?

Yes. Dr. Bartolini trained and practised in the United States for 13 years and sees families in Italian or English.

Can the visit be done remotely?

Unfortunately, due to hospital policy, the first visit has to be in person. Follow-up evaluations can be arranged remotely via televisit.
